A driving layup by Justin Fuehrmeyer with 7:58 to play put the Bears up 61-57 in a game with 16 lead changes and 11 ties. UNI locked up its 10th straight win with a powerful run that included key three-point baskets by Ali Farokhmanesh and Johnny Moran during the 14-2 run that put the Panthers up 71-63 with 4:04 to play.

MSU made a late run in the final two minutes, cutting a 76-65 deficit to 76-70 after a hook shot by Will Creekmore and three-pointer from the top of the key by Kyle Weems with 1:45 to play. UNI sealed the win, however, by taking a charge and with solid free throw shooting down the stretch.

UNI was 19-for-21 (.905) at the free throw line for the game, including 12-for-12 down the stretch. Jordan Eglseder scored 22 points and snagged 13 rebounds, both game highs, to lead UNI, while Adam Koch added 18 on five three-pointers.

The Bears made good on 48.9 percent of their field goals (23-of-47) and 8-of-18 (.444) from beyond the arc. MSU for its part also had a solid day at the charity stripe, making 22-of-27 (.815) while committing just 10 turnovers.

The Bears had four players in double figures, including 13 by Jermaine Mallett who was 4-of-5 from the field, while Leonard and Creekmore scored 12. Kyle Weems added 11 for MSU to go with nine rebounds, while Nafis Ricks and Caleb Patterson each contributed 8 points for the Bears.

Missouri State's bench outscored the Panthers 25-18 in the game, but UNI made a living in the paint, accounting for 18 of its 84 points from close range.

The Bears return to JQH Arena on Wednesday at 7 to take on the Wichita State Shockers in MVC action.

In the first, half, the Bears and Panthers locked into a 34-34 tie. Mallett had 10 first-half points, while Weems and Patterson each scored six points.

Missouri State jumped out to a 12-7 lead before the under-16-minute media timeout as Mallett scored five quick points, and the Bears got a trey from freshman Keith Pickens to gain some early separation.

Weems hit a pair of free throws at the 13:36 mark to give MSU a 14-7 advantage before the Panthers began playing with urgency and notched eight unanswered points in a span of 67 seconds, including two three-pointers by Koch, to regain a 15-14 lead.

Mallett responded with his second three of the half to turn the momentum back toward the Bears. Later, MSU overcame a pair of four-point deficits with Caleb Patterson factoring in five points in the final 2:28 of the half, and Justin Fuehrmeyer burying a trey.
