COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Men's basketball Coach Mike Anderson declined lucrative offers from other schools in favor of remaining at University of Missouri largely because of something no contract can promise: comfort.

In his third year on the job, Anderson became a hot property after coaching the Tigers to a school-record 31 wins and their first conference tournament championship in 15 years. Schools like University of Georgia and University of Alabama tried to lure him with offers of better pay.

Anderson described those bids as enticing in an interview on Tuesday. The comment marks the first time he has talked about the seven-year, $10.85 million contract extension that he accepted last week to continue coaching Missouri basketball.

"There are more factors in it than money and it always came back down to being comfortable," said Anderson.
