STANFORD — Dr. Bradford Curry, 92, of Stanford died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.
He was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Uptonville, Tenn., to the late John Milton Curry, M.D. and Mary P. Curry. He was the widower of Catherine Rigsby Curry, to whom was he married June 22, 1944.
A Southern Baptist minister, Dr. Curry received his bachelor’s degree from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., and received his master’s of theology and doctorate in philosophy from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
He pastored churches in Warsaw; Glasgow; Shively in Louisville; Jacksonville, Texas; Fairfield, Ill.; Dallas, Texas; Fort Pierce, Fla.; New Orleans, La.; Denham Springs; and Stanford. He was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Wayne (Carolyn) Curry of Franklin, Tenn., Carol (James) Woodard of Henderson, Ky., Mary Ellen (Steve) Moore of Atlanta, Ga., John B. (Joyce) Hester of Hustonville, Charles "Buddy" (Sue) Hester of Danville, Ann Elizabeth (Jim) Wilson of Brentwood, Tenn., Thomas Walker of New Albany, Ind., and Edwin Walker of Portsmouth, Ohio; several great nieces and nephews as well as several great-great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mary Curry of Atlanta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m today, Nov. 27, 2011, at Spurlin Funeral Home and the funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Stanford Baptist Church. Dr. Greg Earwood will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Stuart Underwood, Otis Cave, Odel Kirkpatrick, Jay Burton, Paul Long and Joe Hafley. Honorary bearers will be the Stanford Baptist Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
