Ravens fan mail [Pictures]
One handwritten letter from the mother of an 18-year-old woman with special needs tells the story of her daughter's love of her hometown football team. Another, addressed to quarterback Joe Flacco, has the phrase "Keep Up the Hard Work!" and the author's number, with the message: "Call me."
As Baltimore's beloved football team prepares for post-season play, the Baltimore Ravens have set up a fan letter contest, with purple mailboxes at every Giant grocery store in the state. Since Tuesday, they've received about 100 letters, and the contest continues through Jan.11. The author of one letter, picked at random, will win a VIP "Ravens Playoff Home Game Experience." The package includes tickets to Sunday's divisional game at M&T Bank Stadium for the winner and three family members, a parking pass and food and beverages in a heated tent during a pre-game party. And the school with the largest number of students to participate in the contest will receive a visit from the Raven's cheerleaders and Poe, the team's official mascot.--John-John Williams, IV
