Channel 2 will air special programming for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, beginning Monday evening.
Special KTUU-TV programs marking the arrival of Christmas Day, beginning at 10:30 p.m. Monday, include:
10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.: Christmas Eve Mass from St. Peter's Basilica
12 a.m. to 1 a.m.: Archdiocese of Anchorage Midnight Mass (live)
1 a.m. to 2 a.m.: 2010 Air Force Band of the Pacific
2 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.: Decade Christmas
2:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.: O Holy Night
3 a.m. to 4 a.m.: 2011 Air Force Band of the Pacific
4 a.m. to 5 a.m.: 2012 Christmas Liturgical
5 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.: The Bells of Christmas
5:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.: 2011 Music Video
6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.: Music Messiah
Channel 2 will air a 30-minute special, “Merry Christmas Alaska,” during the 5:00 Report and Late Edition time slots Tuesday, with the Air Force Band of the Pacific's 2012 program replacing the Newshour. “NBC Nightly News” will air at its usual time at 5:30 p.m.
News programming will run normally on New Year’s Eve, with the Late Edition followed at 10:30 p.m. by “The Tonight Show,” and NBC’s New Year’s Eve coverage featuring Carson Daly airing from 11:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1.
The Morning Edition on New Year’s Day will be followed by the Rose Parade from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
