Are there federal tax credits for diesel fuel cars?

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, some diesels in service beginning in 2006 may be eligible for a federal income tax credit. Credit amounts phase out for the auto maker once it has sold over 60,000 eligible hybrid and/or diesel vehicles. More information is available at fueleconomy.gov.
