Police in Joliet are investigating the slaying of a Crest Hill teen Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Jordan N. Edwards, 17, of Crest Hill, was pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m. at Draper Avenue and Woodruff Road in Joliet, according to the Will County coroner's office.
Joliet police are investigating Edwards' death as a homicide, according to the coroner's office.
Police were called to the area about 4:15 p.m. Saturday when someone fired shots, and when officers arrived, someone came up to them and told them a person was on the ground in a field on the southeast corner of Woodruff and Draper, near a large bush and tree, Police Cmdr. Alan M. Roechner said in a statement this afternoon.
Edwards was found in the field and was dead on the scene, apparently from a gunshot wound, police said.
