Diana Martinez, the president of The Second City, is leaving the company, the Chicago-based theater and training center said Friday. Martinez had been enployed there since 2009, president since Sept. 2010.

In a statement, Second City CEO and co-owner Andrew Alexander paid tribute to Martinez's time at Second City, thanking her for her entrepreneurial spirit and praising her work.

In a further statement, Martinez said she planned to pursue theatrical work and consulting projects.  Prior to Second City, Martinez was executive director of Paramount Theatre in Aurora. Reached at home Friday afternoon, Martinez said that her departure was "a mutual decision," and said she did not want to comment much further, beyond expressing her "great affection for Second City and the people there."
