  11. Polk County prosecutor seeks adult certification for boy who killed sister

    BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Polk County Sheriff Steve Bruce says the prosecuting attorney is seeking to certify a 15-year-old boy as an adult for the fatal shooting of his 12-year-old stepsister on March 24.  Sierra Elliott's mother found her daughter dead at their home on that Saturday night after the girl and the boy were home alone for about 30 minutes.  Both teens were students at Fair Play School.

  19. Christopher Collings murder trial: Jury recommends death penalty

    ROLLA, Mo. -- Twelve jurors recommended Friday evening that Christopher Collings get a death penalty for raping and killing his friend's 9-year-old daughter more than four years ago at Collings' home near Wheaton.  The jurors unanimously found, after 45 minutes of deliberations, that the murder involved two of the 17 possible aggravating circumstances that are necessary under Missouri law to impose a death penalty.
