I just returned from an awesome Veterans Day program provided by the Rockwood Elementary school children. On behalf of veterans everywhere it was an honor and privilege to serve. But to see the effort of these teachers, faculty, administrators and children to take time to prepare and present their understanding of the cost of their freedom and their thankfulness brings tears to our eyes and restores hope for our future as a nation.
Having lived all over the world and all over the country I can assure you that this level of patriotism and willingness to include songs and statements that recognize the faith of our founders is no longer the rule but, rather, the exception. To see the bright faces of these children, shake their hands and accept their thanks was humbling to say the least.
So, I wanted to extend my deepest appreciation and I'm sure the appreciation of all the veterans present and those who couldn't be there to the students, faculty and staff of the Rockwood Elementary School for your spirit, patriotism and pride. It sure made this veteran thankful to be in this community.
