11. Music for the Pool or the Beach

Summer is here and the time is right for jamming at the beach or the pool. These days you don't need to lug around a huge boom box or radio to hear your tunes. First of all, you need a set of speakers, like the high quality jawbone boombox. Its bluetooth, rechargeable, programmable, and tiny. They run $150 to $300 depending on size and output. It provides huge sound and even good base response, connects without wires, and doubles as a speaker phone. Want a cheaper option? Go to the computer section of Best Buy instead of the ipod section and look for speakers from a company called cyber audio or CA. We found some battery operated speakers that also run on a/c for about $25. It's not as fancy, but with a headphone stereo cable it works great for the price. You also need a media player. Forget the ipod, with google music and other cloud based service you can have access to your entire music collection and playlists from any device, phone , or computer. If you have a big collection, it can take a few days to upload your songs, but you'll never have to sync your media players again. It's all streaming. It's free service, which uses your gmail profile and password. Of course, there are plenty of Pandora type services you can listen too as well. Casey's favorite is Spotify. Mine is Slacker Radio.
