  7. Ozark attorney admits to failing to pay taxes

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- An attorney from Ozark pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday for willfully failing to pay both the payroll taxes he deducted from his employees’ paychecks and his personal income taxes.  Michael Stoffregen, 51, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Rush to one count of willfully failing to give his employees’ payroll taxes to the government and one count of willfully failing to file tax returns.

  11. Feds join fight against synthetic drugs with indictments of 3 in Springfield

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A federal grand jury indicted three members of a family from Springfield for their roles in what investigators call a conspiracy to distribute synthetic drugs, commonly referred to as K2, including a product called Kryp2nite.  Investigators believe the Franklin family has hauled in around $6.7 million from the sales of those products in the past three years.
