  1. Def Leppard, Poison powerful rock combo at HersheyPark Stadium

    Lehigh Valley Music presents FESTBLOG
There are two words to describe the Def Leppard/Poison/Lita Ford concert last night at HersheyPark Stadium: Loud and Powerful. Def Leppard showed its British pride, each member wearing something that symbolizes the British flag – lead singer Joe...

  3. Bourbon Room

The Venetian’s Bourbon Room serves up hard rock, big hair and even bigger bourbons. Based on the Hollywood club from the musical-turned-movie “Rock of Ages,” the all-’80s fantasy features guitar-pick-shaped tables, leather-and-lace clad cocktail servers/dancers and deejays spinning Poison, Joan Jett and AC/DC. As the name suggests, the libations are heavy on bourbon — there are 60 to choose from — but for those who really want a high school flashback, six types of Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers also grace the menu. Because, in Vegas, you don't need “nothin' but a good time.”

  7. Update: Hurricane Sandy forces closures for Broadway, concerts, museums

Hurricane Sandy has forced many cultural institutions in the Mid-Atlantic region to close their doors and cancel performances.

  9. Taylor Swift, 'Cloud Atlas' and assumption junction

On semi-rare occasions, you absolutely know when something’s going to be good. You judge a book by its cover because you’ve practically already read it. A new Fiona Apple album, good. 3 Doors Down’s greatest hits, bad.

  11. Film review: 'Rock of Ages' stewed in irony?

“Rock of Ages” is adapted from a stage musical that — in the manner of “Mamma Mia” and “Jersey Boys” — uses a story as an excuse to resurrect bygone hits with emotional resonance for an aging demographic. This is generally a debased subgenre, though (as my colleague Wade Major points out) one that also includes “Singin' in the Rain.” In the current case, however, the music isn't classic Tin Pan Alley, but rather ’80s power ballads and anthems from the likes of Twisted Sister, Journey, Pat Benatar and Foreigner.

  13. 'Bachelor Pad' recap, Episode 7, Motoring into the finale

"Bachelor Pad's" second to last episode was last night. While thrilled that "Bachelor Pad" was the perfect segue between the Summer Olympics and football, we're none to happy about the scheduling of the finale -- the same time as the Ravens' first game.

  15. Interview: Diego Boneta lands 'Rock of Ages' and a taste of U.S. stardom

Most people taking a 90-minute boat tour on a 90-degree afternoon in late May would wear shorts rather than pants for the excursion. Not Diego Boneta. The star of the upcoming “Rock of Ages” film wore jeans as he sat front row on the top deck of the boat, directly in front of the tour guide and directly under the sun.

  17. Watch the trailer for MTV's Chicago-based series 'Underemployed'

You probably know close to nothing about “Underemployed” -- other than the fact that the MTV show spent the summer filming in Chicago. The brand new series doesn’t have a star like “Boss,” as many recognizable faces as “The Mob Doctor” or any of the controversy that surrounded “Mob Wives Chicago.”

  23. Rocker Lita Ford at Penn's Peak: She's still better to watch than to listen to

    Lehigh Valley Music
Let’s be totally honest: Rocker Lita Ford didn’t get famous because she was the best guitarist in the world or the best singer. She got famous because she was a sexy blonde who could play (decent) guitar and (sorta) sing......
