JOPLIN, Mo.-- According to a report released Tuesday, local authorities responded effectively to the tornado here on May 22, but there's always room for improvement, especially when it comes to telling people that they must take cover now.  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration finds people in Joplin had plenty of time to find shelter, a full 17 minutes but, unfortunately, most people did not drop what they were doing when the warning was issued.

  9. 'Seduced and Abandoned' with Alec Baldwin at Cannes

Last year at the Cannes Film Festival, Alec Baldwin and director James Toback ran around for 11 days making a movie about two guys (themselves; it’s a documentary) scrambling to line up financing for a different movie, a sex-soaked tale of a right-wing government operative trysting with a left-wing journalist in a hotel room in Iraq.

  19. Ray Manzarek: X's Exene Cervenka, John Doe remember a friend

The music that keyboardist Ray Manzarek made as part of the Doors helped define the 1960s, and also was a crucial part of the Southern California music scene in the latter half of that decade. Two generations of L.A. music met in the late 1970s when Manzarek connected with punk band X to produce the group's first four studio albums. The band's songwriters and lead singers, Exene Cervenka and bassist John Doe, reflect on the music of the Doors and their relationship with Manzarek, who died Monday at 74 of cancer.
