Scanlon scored a 37.875 to beat runner-up Chelsea Levander of Wilton. Levander had finished second in the all-around in 2011. Scanlon tied for the individual title in the vault at the Open, was second in the uneven bars and balance beam and fourth in the floor exercise. Woodstock Academy scored a 145.075 to beat out 2011 State Open champion Glastonbury for the team title. The Tomahawks finished the meet second with a 143.625 score.
On March 3 at Pomperaug High in Southbury, three Class meet gymnastics team titles were awarded and coach Robin Deary-Fillmore left the gym with the majority of them. Deary-Fillmore coached Woodstock Academy to its second consecutive CIAC Class M title and then followed that up by coaching Killingly to the CIAC Class S title. Killingly edged RHAM-Hebron in the meet for its fifth divisional team title. Deary-Fillmore has been the head coach at Killingly for 25 years and for 17 years at Woodstock Academy.
