Street, who is among 14 different pitchers to get the nod in the history of the Padres organization, has tallied 26 strikeouts against six walks and is 11-for-11 in save opportunities this season.
This will be Street’s first career All-Star game.
It is the fourth-consecutive season and sixth time in the last seven seasons that a Padres closer has been selected to the All-Star Game. Health Bell (2009-11) and Trevor Hoffman (2006-07) were among the most notable Padres pitchers to be honored in the half-way point of the 2012 season.
The 83rd Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be televised on Fox 5 on July 10.
