WILMINGTON, Calif. (KTLA) -- Los Angeles-based international relief agency Operation USA is providing emergency aid to New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast as part of the response to Hurricane Isaac.
The group says that it is currently assessing the need for clean water, food and other supplies, and that they're prepared to help in any way they can.
Operation USA has reached out to pharmaceutical companies to get medications like penicillin to support the local non-profit clinics in the area.
They're also collecting cleaning supplies and masks to help people whose homes were damaged by water.
They plan to leave in about a week and head straight to the disaster area, according to warehouse coordinator Tony Shannon.
The group helped with relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, sending seven truckloads worth of pharmaceuticals and equipment, according to Shannon.
