Children, Mother Rescued From Apartment Fire

The two-alarm fire broke out around 5 p.m. in a bottom-level apartment in a complex in the 4900 block of N. Sierra Way. When firefighters arrived they found a neighbor carrying a small child that was not breathing. According to San Bernardino Fire, the second child, also unconscious, was taken out of the building by their mother. All three appeared to have suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Paramedics treated the mother and two children, both under the age of 5, at the scene and they were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
The fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the building and the cause is still under investigation.
