  7. Closing Comments: Not Guilty

I'm mad about the Casey Anthony verdict! Like a lot of people. Another murderer goes free. My opinion!  But remember, we weren't in the court room, and watched a very different trial than the jurors! We were also brainwashed by hours upon hours of speculation by legal experts with TV shows who were not only trying the case in primetime, but also telling us what the verdict would be! The evidence was circumstantial and this jury was not looking for proof beyond a reasonable doubt; but proof beyond all doubt! 12 different jurors may have reached a different verdict. The defense poked holes in the state's case, and Casey's parents didn't help. By their own admission, did everything they could to spare their daughter from the death penalty.

  19. 'Perp' walk: Unfair to defendants?

For defendants in high-profile criminal hearings, the so-called "perp walk" is one of the more distasteful traditions of American jurisprudence. The news media are alerted to a time and location when the alleged perpetrator will be walked to the courthouse so they can photograph him or her en masse — often in handcuffs and surrounded by police.
