  17. Today's buzz: Bachmann's exit: good riddance?

Four-term Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, a former presidential candidate who briefly led the GOP field in 2012, announced this week that she won’t seek re-election to the U.S. House.  Bachmann had a tough re-election campaign ahead of her, and she’s facing investigations by the Federal Election Commission and the Office of Congressional Ethics stemming from her presidential bid. She denied that either her political challenges or the investigations were pushing her out of Congress. Bachmann has been an outspoken conservative and a favorite of tea party Republicans. Critics have called her a demagogue and a politically polarizing figure. Is her exit a loss for the Republican Party? For Congress? For women in politics? Talk about it!
