    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- More than 1.2 million African-Americans saw combat during World War 2.&nbsp; Around the same number were drafted or enlisted for non-combat jobs to support the U.S. military around the globe during that war.&nbsp; The latest Ozarks Honor Flight from Springfield, Mo., to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday included an African-American veteran from Springfield who recalled how they also fought a different war on the home front.

  20. Ex-con is charged after chase, shooting at officers, campus lockdown in Rolla

    ROLLA, Mo. -- State troopers arrested a man who is believed to be the one who entered Fort Leonard Wood with an assault rifle, fled to Rolla at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour in a stolen car while shooting at pursuing officers, crashed the car into another car near Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, walked through a university campus building with the rifle, and then broke into a home and stole a car from the person living there.&nbsp; Within hours of his arrest, Cody Willcoxson of Southwest City was charged in two counties and jailed in lieu of two $1 million bonds.
