    Call Tuesday, Flag Day, the hottest day of 2011.  The sun pushed the temperature up to 95 degrees.  It’s not unusual for Sacramento to see a high of 95 in June, but this year, “They didn’t give us a break-in period,” said Darryl King, a Regional Transit worker installing cable outdoors.   “It kind of went from cool to hot.   19. Their Last Bust? Sacramento Bike Cops on the Chopping Block

    Sacramento Police officers on bikes demonstrated Wednesday evening just how effective they can be.  The bike unit is being cut from the department at the end of this month.   Wednesday evening a “code 3” cover call was dispatched when an off-duty sheriff’s deputy encountered trouble inside a downtown parking garage.   At least three officers on bikes raced to his rescue and those officers ended up capturing two of the three suspects running from the scene.
