    Una Byers Lichty of Laurel Maryland, formerly of Meyersdale, died on Oct. 21, 2012, at University Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Born on Oct. 26, 1918, in Sand Patch, the eldest daughter of Elizabeth (Habel) and Harry Willard Byers. She was preceded in death by her husband James J. Lichty; brother, Willard Byers and sisters: Louise Phillippi and Doris Clapper. Survived by her five children, Gail Lichty Jinar of Centreville Md.; James (Pamela) Lichty of Reisterstown Md.; Gerald Lichty of Tamarac Fla.; Richard (Carol) Lichty of Laurel Md.; and Joseph (Josetta) Lichty of State College; 13 grandchildren Micah Jinar West, Stephanie Jinar Kelly, James Lichty, Jonas Lichty, Stuart Lichty, Melissa Lichty Villalobos, Kevin Lichty, Scott Lichty, Brian Lichty, Curt Lichty, Julie Lichty Balay, Jordan Lichty and Jessica Lichty; She was also delighted to have 16 great-grandchildren (with No. 17 on the way). Also survived by her sister Ferne (Zip) Kinter of Rockwood and brothers John (Eleanor) Byers and Blaine (Minako) Byers of Las Cruces N.M. Also, Una loved sewing and quilting for many years and was a member of Amity United Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to Amity United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 97, Meyersdale, PA 15552.
