Autopsy to determine cause of bitten man's death

An autopsy is scheduled for today on a West Englewood man after a pit bull was found biting the man's body.

Police were called to the 5600 block of South Racine last night after Charles Hagerman's wife came home and found the dog biting her unconscious husband's neck.


The 44-year-old Hagerman was pronounced dead on the scene. A police source says it appears he was dead before the dog bit him.

Two pit bulls were removed from the home.

Detectives continue to investigate the cause of Hagerman's death.
