Ex-Yankee Aaron Boone Needs Open Heart Surgery
Boone says he's known about his heart condition since college. He says a recent routine physical determined he needed surgery.
The procedure, however, is not considered an emergency but doctors indicate the procedure is necessary. According to the Associated Press, Boone's doctors told him he can play baseball when he recovers, but he's not sure if he will.

Boone signed with the Houston Astros in the off-season after spending last year with the Washington Nationals.
"I've had a pretty good run, and I wouldn't really change anything. I've definitely had my share of injuries, but I've embraced that and it's part of it," Boone said.
Boone secured his place in Yankee history back in 2003, when he hit the winning home run in Game 7 of the ALCS that sent the Yankees to the World Series to face off with the wild card Florida Marlins.
