Black Friday shopping got off to an early start this year. Some people skipped out on Thanksgiving dinner to head to the malls and stores were still packed Friday.
Nothing says the holidays like a crowded mall.
"It was like a river of people on each side of the mall walking by," said shopper April Smith.
This is Smith's second trip to University Park Mall. She began her Christmas shopping last night and stayed out until 3 a.m.
"We were actually at HH Gregg and when we got in line we started all the way back by Hacienda," said Smith.
On Friday, she was shopping with her cousin, Sarah Szymanski.
"Oh my gosh it seems like hours, been here all day," Szymanski said.
Together, they're crossing things off their shopping lists.
"Just gifts for my friends, family, got this jacket for myself I had to it was a good price," Szymanski said.
"I bought a Notre Dame blanket for my husband's secret Santa and I got some goods from Ulta," said Smith.
But they still have more shopping to do and more packed stores to navigate.
University Park Mall officials don't have Black Friday shopping numbers in yet, so it's unclear exactly how sales went this year.
