My name is Lori Schadler. I live on Hwy. 413 along the James River between Railey Creek and the old "Y" bridge. My friend Frederick and I walked down my driveway this morning to see how far the river was up and much to our surprise Hwy. 413 was no longer there. I have lived here in Galena along the James for 13 years and never seen the river rise over the road before. We then decided to walk along the train trussel towards Galena and took the pictures of the Railey Creek bridge and Hwy. 413 or what is left of it. We saw several homes flooded on the Galena side of the river and the water was up to the old "Y" bridge. We climbed up the cliff by the "Y" bridge and hiked through the woods to return to my home. Hopefully everyone in Galena and the surrounding area is safe. As for us, I guess we will just have to wait for the river to recede so we can get out of here.
