On the 20th I was planning on leaving waynesville to head to my mothers home in OK. I live up a hill off of 17N towards crocker. I was driving down the hill and there were several cars everywhere and people. Come to find out the HWY was flooded. There isn't another access road for all of us to get out. I keep saying to myself they can't leave us here trapped!!! So finally talking to someone they told me they knew of a way appartenly the sherriff made this man open his private property to let us go through and he was not a happy person to do this. So the moral I believe of this story is to be perpared for emergency situations especially when there is tons of people that could have been trapped had it not been for this secert road.

What you heard is not true. The sheriff did NOT make the man open his private property to let everyone go through. The man opened it on his own without law enforcement ever asking him to.
