Norfork Dam at Maximum Flood Pool

Norfork Dam cannot hold any more water! At 579.73 feet it is only a matter of hours before the gates must open. Maximum flood pool is 580 feet above sea level. As these pictures were being taken water was sloshing down the flood spillway. The previous high water mark for Norfork lake was 579.03 set back in 1973. Update: the floodgates were opened at approximately 4 AM. 8 hours after these pictures were taken. At 5 AM Norfork lake was at 580.83 All gates are open 3.5 feet as of 8:15 AM.
