Norfork dam, which houses two turbine generators, is releasing enough water in this photograph to power up 10 turbines. According to local sources, when the dam first began to release water, the Corps of Engineers opened the floodgates wide enough to power a whopping 41 turbines. This massive volume of water flooded local residents homes and washed away local boat docks. Angry residents are questioning the Corps reasoning in allowing Lake Norfork to fill to capacity before releasing water, rather than a staggered release as the lake began to fill.
