Located on the James River and Flat Creek arm of Table Rock Lake in the Cape Fair area, PaddlingCenter.com took videos of the dam, releasing the record level water flow. "We wanted to see what was going on at the other end of our lake", as the water was approaching record levels and reaching the base of bridges. Water crested at 4am, Saturday Morning April 12th, 2008, to 933.25' in elevation, 930' being the top of the Table Rock Lake flood pool. When this resumes to more normal levels, the rivers should have great flow this year. The high water has effected the 2008 Spoonbill season dramatically, and area resorts and related businesses hopes it comes down soon with the white bass starting to spawn this early to mid April time of year. Paddling rivers in the area such as Flat Creek will have great flow for a while, as the karst topography that are full of caves and springs should hold a good flow of water for a while. With PaddlingCenter.com being on the lake headwaters where the rivers come in, Flat Creek is also an area of interest with canoes and kayaks that do well in those areas rather than the bass boats that would typically visit us this time of year for fishing. PaddlingCenter.com set up the Ozark Outdoor Center in Cape Fair in January of this year, with motel rooms, restaurant, paddleshop, kayak demo pond, and waterfront on Table Rock lake.
