A little thought of letter, in the alphabet, but used in so many ways. The X is not really one of those letters of note, like the A in Alpha, or B in Bravo, or recognized for it's importance like ABC's in school. Even though it is down there on the end of the alphabet, it still yet commands our attention, and accents a wide variety of meaning. Take for example - - See there it is! Why didn't the English language just spell that word Xample? The X has a lot of significance in everyday life. We have Xtra large clothes, probably more so now than ever before, after we've been threw the drive up, to get that Xtra large soft drink with Xtra large fries. When we see X we now know it means bigger & XX even bigger. Why is it then, the simple word sex, is recognized by using three XXX's?
Writers of Love letters, tend to use X's & O's to depict kisses. The early 70's fostered a radical equal rights movement, headed by Malcolm X. I'm sure there is some great significant meaning to the use of X there, but I lack the knowledge or desire to know what it might be. When you go to a clinic, you get X-rayed to check for broken bones, and all kinds of other medical ailments. Superman had X-ray vision. Advertisers have heaped heavy weight on the importance of Xtra Cleaning Power, or Xtra savings. An Xtra Special deal, or open Xtra hours for your convenience. The news media might refer to a suspect as a disgruntled, X employee. People who have served, are often referred to as X military. Americans who have chosen to live in other countries, have become X patriots.
An athlete quickly becomes an X Cardinal or X Ram or former an NBA player an X, all-star performer. When relationships go arrye, members become X's,
i.e. X wife/husband, X girlfriend or X mother-in-law. In the movies, an X on a map, was an indicator for the spot where the buried treasure is hidden. Coaches of all types use X's & O's to draw up winning plays, and to indicate player positions. This electronic medium is powered by algorithms formed by the use of X's & O's, indicating open or closed. In school the teacher might give you Xtra credit of Xceptional work. You get X'ed off for attendance and put an X threw items on a shopping list or information that does not apply, on application forms. Modern day railroads use the X for there crossing sign. In Mobster type movies, a person might get X'ed out. The simple little game of X & O could help pass time from boredom, and go on forever. Modern day game makers have monogrammed the name of X-box, to denote there electronic game player. It is still unclear as the origin of the letter X, as the Greeks & Etruscans (ancient Italy) both claim the recognition for it's invention. The movie & comic book industry created a science fiction series using the X-Factor, and also a Detective series. Street Gangs use the X as a territorial or membership sign. British television has a talent search series, called the X-factor. In some cases, land & money have changed hands on the placement of "there mark" or X, for someone who can not write the English language. Even now, many common industrial forms, have an X printed on the paper, when it is necessary to sign some important legal document, or contract. Common description/definitions are:
1. indicating an error, a choice, or a kiss
2. indicating an unknown, unspecified, or variable factor, person, or thing: Miss X
3. the Roman numeral for ten
4. (formerly) indicating a film that may not be publicly shown to anyone under 18: since 1982 replaced by symbol 18.
Even though the X is down close to the end (#24) of the alphabet, it still has a power that is quietly embedded in each of our daily life's.
It's not every day we much notice, the use of the letter X.
Yesterday I did take notice, as I saw this Huge X in the sky. It did not have any of the above mentioned explanations for meanings, just a blue sky, with the contrail (A visible trail of streaks of condensed water vapor or ice crystals sometimes forming in the wake of an aircraft) of jets crossing paths in the Mid-western sky, over the Mo-Ar border.

Very well done! Love the picture! You always give us a little something Xtra to think about with your pictures.

those are not contrails, they are chemtrails

Conrails disappear rapidly as they are water vapors. However, chemtrails expand instead of disappating and if you watch these lines they grow into clouds. There are several sites to investigate. Just type "chemtrails" into your search. Interesting.
