On wednesday June 18th 2008, CODEPINK activists exposed John McCain's ties to the oil and gas industry. Two members hung a banner over the second story balcony inside Plaster Student Union at Missouri State as people stood in line waiting to see John McCain. The banner was a giant check signed by "Oil Company Executives for 492 thousand dollars, the amount he has recieved from the Oil & Gas industry during the 2008 election cycle, according to FEC contribution reports... opensecrets.org
The activists chanted for several minutes and then left to join several dozen protesters who were outside.
