A business class at Everest College, just across from the KY3 studios, raised money doing a class project.
The idea was given by Ms. Sue Smith, an instructor at Everest. The assignment was to take $100 seed money and perform a business venture one-time and earn a profit. Once the profit was earned the students could choose what to do with it.
The students in the class raised $200 in profit. The students could give the money away or keep it or even take themselves to dinner.
Chris Suttles, a student in the class and business major at Everest College, came up with the idea of giving the money to a classroom for students with disabilities in the Springfield Public School system.
The class voted for this idea unanymously. Chris and a friend called around and found that Sunshine Elementary had a need for some books in the classroom for students with disabilities. This class had a new teacher. Chris and the rest of the class delivered a check for $200 for much needed books in this classroom.
What a great human interest story.
