Excitement abounds as Ozark Raceway Park (ORP), in Rogersville, MO comes closer to its opening day for the 2009 race season. With new owners, new name, new track surface, and improvements made to the entire facility, ORP is once again proving that it provides the best drag racing in the Ozarks. To get ready for the weather permitting March 7th test and tune session, track owners, Marty, Neal, and Mitch Chance (pictured) met with Jason Rueckert, Director of Motorsports Development for VP Fuels, for a final preparation of the newly ground track surface. Jason is well known in the drag racing industry for his work nationally with the ADRL racing series. Then the fun began... Wednesday, February 25th's beautiful mid 60 degree weather made for the perfect opportunity for three local racers to make the first track test runs. Mark "TYDO" Werdehausen, driving Mike Dezura's beautiful '47 Chevy Coupe made the first complete pass down the track, with Mike Kimmis in his '00 Outlaw 10.5 Trans Am (pictured), and James Booth in his '86 Chevy Truck (pictured) following suit. Everyone agreed - the track looks great and definitely has the potential to see records broken in all of the heads up racing classes, and improved consistency in all of the bracket racing classes.
