(Branson, MO) - Skaggs Foundation proudly accepted $1,735 collected during the “Pink Zone” and “Coaches vs. Cancer” fundraisers, February 21 at College of the Ozarks. Donations were collected during halftime of each of the basketball games.

Only one team can walk away a winner in a basketball game, but the true winners of the night are the patients at Skaggs Regional Medical Center who will benefit from the money raised. Executive Director of Skaggs Foundation, Rodney Arnold, says, “Skaggs Foundation is proud to partner with College of the Ozarks to raise money and increase cancer awareness in our community. This year’s proceeds will be used to provide financial scholarships to patients currently being treated at the Skaggs Cancer Center. I continue to be impressed with our community’s willingness to support and help others in times of need.”

A special presentation was made following the women’s game to all breast cancer survivors and individuals currently battling the disease. They were invited to center court, where the players presented them with T-shirts honoring their fight.

College of the Ozarks Athletic Director, Al Waller, says, “We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous response the community put forth to make “Pink Zone” and “Coaches vs. Cancer” a wonderful success again. The Bobcats are proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause, especially when we know the money we raise stays in this community. And hopefully by having our young athletes and students be a part of this, they will become more conscious of this dreaded disease and thus make better choices in their life in regard to diet, exercise and regular screenings.”
