What an awesome weekend of racing at the season opener of Ozark Raceway Park (ORP) in Rogersville, MO! The April 4th Jackson Hewitt, Mickey Thompson Doorslammer Shootout saw 3 track records broken, and proved the Chance family is on it's way to making ORP one of the best drag racing facilities in the area.

Bryce Beeler took the Junior Dragster record, previously set by Cody Barklage 7 years ago! Don "Showtime" Erwin broke his own record in True 10.5 with a 4.79 @ 153 mph. Erwin also lived up to his nickname by putting the little red mustang's front wheels in the air in both round 1 and again in the final (pictured). The battle of the weekend, however, was in Outlaw 10.5. The record was first broken by Mike Kimmis in his turbocharged Trans Am, then it was set again by Scott Lowery in his turbocharged Cadillac XLR, but Todd Kitchen and his turbocharged Trans Am walked away with the Outlaw 10.5 record, after running a 4.48 @ 174 mph.

ORP would like to congratulate all of the winners this weekend. Ron Muenks won Pro Mod, with a 4.01, getting extremely close to the 3.99 bounty (pictured). Mark "TYDO" Werdehausen got a hole shot win in Pro Street, Aaron York took the win light in Outlaw 10.5, Josh Lindsey won True 10.5 after Erwin crossed the center line, and Donnie Davidson was the big winner in Drag Radial.

A big thank you goes to all of the racers, fans, and sponsors for making this weekend such a success. Another big thanks goes to Jason Rueckert, Director of Motorsports Development for VP Fuels, for coming out and helping to ensure the track surface was the best it could be. (Pictured here with Kane Daly, left, and ORP Operations Director, Jamond Haug, right) A final thanks goes out to the staff of ORP - everyone worked together to make this first shootout work clean, smooth, and efficiently. Great Job Guys!!

Great job Bryce Beeler on setting a world record. KY3 should do a spot about kids that are not getting into trouble.
