During a walk in our woods this past week, I came across this fellow who showed no sign of brown. I live about 8 miles south of Rolla, MO. We also cut persimmon seeds and found spoons.

old wives tale of predicting the winter i think the brown strips represent mild weeks and the black bad weather weeks. The persimmons are the same thing spoons represent shoveling snow.
