SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Boy Scouts, Bass Pro Shops and the Missouri Department of Conservation want your real Christmas trees for its annual recycling program.

This program gives you a chance to recycle an old Christmas trees for a cause. The Ozarks Trail Boy Scouts manage the tree collection area outside Bass Pro Shops, loading them onto trailers. They will then take them to designated local conservation areas.

“The live Christmas tree is something that provides comfort and beauty to a home,” said Francis Skalicky, Media Specialist Missouri Department of Conservation. “Now it’s got a second purpose providing habitat and beauty to a wildlife habitat.”

The recycled trees will provide wildlife habitats for rabbits, quail, and songbirds.
