Leigh Moody

Anchor
Leigh Moody

Leigh anchors KY3 News @11 and KY3 News @ 4 on KSPR.

Leigh started her broadcast career as a reporter in Orlando, Florida after graduating from the University of Central Florida. She then moved on to anchor positions in Charleston, South Carolina, Flint, Michigan and Tampa Florida before arriving in Springfield in December of 2010.

Leigh is passionate about animal rescue and created the Leigh's Lost and Found TV feature and Facebook page in March of 2012 to help reunite lost pets in the Ozarks. She partners with Springfield animal control to feature lost animals each week on the news. She also runs the Leigh's Lost and Found Facebook page which averages 400-500 successful reunions each month. Since it started, the effort has helped tens of thousands of pets get back home to their families.

Leigh always has an assortment of rescue animals at home. She and her husband Nick currently have three dogs and one cat. Spaulding is a Great Pyrenees/Pit mix that tops out at 120 pounds and takes his name from their favorite movie, Caddyshack. Priscilla is a White Eskimo mix and is a total diva. Bootsy, who showed up in their garage emaciated and injured in the fall of 2020, is a Boxer/Beagle mix with a funky, cool personality. And Kismet the cat was abandoned as a kitten behind the KY3 news station so Leigh obviously had to take her home!

Leigh is also a true crime junkie and has appeared on ABC's 20/20 and Oxygen's Snapped, talking about the Gypsy Blanchard case and also on on 20/20's episode about the Staudte family anti-freeze murders.

When not working or saving animals, Leigh is an avid swimmer and diver and is never happier than when she's in a pool or ocean. She's also an amateur gardener and can be found messing around in her flower beds most nights during spring and summer. She and Nick hope to retire one day to their favorite place in the world, St. John, U.S.V.I.
