KY3 Sports Director
Jason is a Midwestern guy who always knew he wanted to be involved in sports and broadcasting. Born and raised in Central Kansas, Jason graduated from the University of Kansas in 1995. His sports reporting career began at WIBW and KTKA in Topeka, KS. In 2002, he moved to Kansas City and joined the sports team at WDAF Fox 4 News.
During his 16-year run at Fox 4, Jason witnessed the most historic stretch of sports in Kansas City history. He covered the 2012 MLB All-Star Game, two World Series, and the build-up to the Chiefs' run to Super Bowls LIV and LV. He also covered multiple Sporting Kansas City championships, NASCAR events at Kansas Speedway, and the annual Big 12 Tournament in downtown KC. Jason followed KU, K-State and Missouri in the NCAA Tournament. He traveled with the Wildcats and Tigers to bowl games, and he was in Columbia when Mizzou announced its decision to leave the Big 12 to join the SEC.
Jason has a passion for high school sports. Before they became stars, Jason watched Gary Woodland, Bubba Starling, Drew Lock, Josh Freeman, Shane Ray, Chase Coffman, Jack Sock, Jordy Nelson, Darren Sproles, Matt Besler and many others compete at the high school level. Jason promises to bring his dedication to covering high school sports to KY3.
Jason and his family vacation in the Ozarks every summer, and they're looking forward to making SW Missouri their new home. His wife, Amy, is a registered dental hygienist. Their son, Jayce, will graduate from high school this spring. They also have a golden retriever named Sid.
