Investigators probe cause of fire that destroyed vacant northside home

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Springfield fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire in a vacant house on the city’s north side.

Fire crews arrived at the house in the 800 block of east Pacific to find the small house fully involved in the fire. Family members tell KY3 News the home had been empty since the woman living there died a few months ago. A fire department spokesman says the fact that the house was vacant and had no utilities connected raises red flags about how the fire started.

No one was hurt. The fire marshal is investigating.
