A toasty latte recipe for cold winter days

Drink to your good health with this delicious hot beverage

Perhaps you've seen golden milk or a turmeric latte on the menu at your favorite coffee shop. Golden milk is a warm beverage made with turmeric, your choice of milk and a variety of other spices and ingredients. Turmeric is the star, giving the drink its golden color and its superfood status.

Turmeric is a power antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, making it a great addition to your muscle recovery routine. Turmeric has been used in traditional medicines for thousands of years. Traditional healers have used turmeric to treat everything from improved digestion to relieving arthritis pain. Modern medicine is acknowledging the power of turmeric and studying its potential role in treating heart disease, cancer and even depression.

While the research is still ongoing it won't hurt to take a preventative step by adding a little more turmeric to your diet.

Drinking golden milk is an easy and delicious way to take advantage of this superfood.

Here's a recipe from my friends at Amoda to make your own golden milk at home.

Total Time: 5 minutes - Serves: 2
*1 cup coconut milk
*1 cup water
*1 tablespoon ghee or coconut oil
*1 tablespoon honey (I use Date Lady Date Syrup)
*2-3 tsp Golden Turmeric Ginger Tea

*Warm coconut milk and water in a saucepan.
*Add in ghee/coconut oil, raw honey and Turmeric Recovery bring to near boil.
*Turn down to a simmer for a few minutes
*Stir and serve right away or pour into a blender and make it frothy before serving.
*This naturally caffeine free beverage makes a perfect afternoon treat or bed time "snack".
