SPRINGFIELD, Mo KY3's Paul Adler visits with Chef Nicole Young to give you a tasty idea for a Super Bowl party dip.
Sautéed onion dip with bacon and Gruyere
*1 yellow or sweet white onion thinly slice
*2 tablespoons olive oil
*1 - 8 ounce package of cream cheese
*8 ounces shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese
*3 tablespoons cooked diced bacon
*2 teaspoons garlic salt
*2 tablespoons chopped parsley
*Crackers or Crostini’s for dipping
In a medium or large sauté pan put the olive oil and sliced onions over medium heat. Sauté until onions are caramelized. Add cream cheese and diced bacon and reduce to low heat.
Stir until ingredients are combined add 3/4 of the shredded cheese garlic salt and the parsley. Stir to combine put into a baking dish.
Sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese and put in a 400° oven to melt and brown cheese. When cheese is bubbly and begins to become golden brown around the edges remove from oven.
Let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes and serve with crackers or other items for dipping. Recipe serves 10.
