Heavy rain turned streets into rivers in Barry County.

We talked to some city and county officials in Cassville. They said that 8 inches of rain fell just outside the town. Then it all drained through the city.

Cassville Police Chief, Dana Kammerlohr told us that heavy rain started around five this afternoon. Within 15 minutes more than 2 feet of rain water was flowing over Business Route 37 which is one of the main roads through town.

Basements and first floors to some businesses and homes along the route were flooded.

Officials also had to close 10 roads throughout town.

"They did have to go out and walk some people out of the water because they chose to try to get out. The safest place for you to be is in your house and call 911 and let us know that you're there," said Kammerlohr.

Luckily no reports of any injuries from this flooding and all the roads are back open.
