Officers investigate the discovery of 2 bodies in Searcy County; possibly connected to Missouri missing persons case

LESLIE, Ark. -- The Searcy County (Ark.) Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of two bodies.

Investigators found the bodies off of U.S. 65 near Leslie.

Arkansas State police spokesperson Bill Sadler says the decomposed bodies were found inside a crashed car. The remains of both individuals have been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for determination of manner and cause of death.

Authorities have not identified the bodies. Warrensburg, Mo. Police Chief, Rich Lockhart confirms the car found in Searcy County matches Jamie Katzenmaier. Police say he and Leslea Shannon had been reported missing in September. Police suspected the couple was traveling in the northwest Arkansas area.

Arkansas State Police will be the ones to release the identities of the bodies.
