JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Edited News Release) -- Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway released an audit of Pulaski County that recommended improvements to county procedures and increased oversight throughout county government. The report received an overall rating of good.
The audit found the budgets for several county funds did not accurately estimate financial activity. The audit recommended making realistic projections of the county's uses of funds so that the public has access to accurate information on the county's financial condition.
The audit also recommended improved processes to account for fuel use by the road and bridge department and County Assessor's office. Auditors recommended logs for fuel purchases and mileage use to ensure proper oversight and decrease the potential for loss, theft or abuse of taxpayer resources. A similar finding was reported in a previous audit report.
County officials responded to the audit findings by committing to addressing the recommendations.
