The Branson Board of Aldermen has given final approval to the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) request for the Aquarium at the Boardwalk project.

"We are really excited. We are glad the Branson community really supported us as we went through this process. We are going to be moving dirt within the next couple of days," Partner with Kuvera Partners Tej Sundher said.

The 46,000-square-foot aquarium will be located at the site of the former Grand Palace Theater along Highway 76.

The developers asked the aldermen to approve $7 million in TIF funding for the project. That's just more than 13 percent of the overall cost of the nearly $51 million project.

The developers, Kuvera Partners, are holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday February 27.

"We are having a groundbreaking. Then, we'd like to mobilize all the equipment on Thursday. So, we are starting to push dirt this week," Sundher said.

The planned completion date is spring or summer 2020.
