Huge fire at Welk Resorts Branson, one firefighter suffers minor injury

Firefighters are on the scene of a huge fire at the Welks Resort Branson.

It started early Sunday morning. No word yet on what started it. The fire is at 1984 State Highway 165 in Branson.

Flames can been seen shooting from the building from several miles away.

The Southern Stone County Fire Department tells KY3 News that the fire is at a four-story condo building that was under construction. It is unoccupied.

The fire department spokesman says the building was only three weeks from completion. It is on the same property as the current, operational Welk Resort.

A news release from the City of Branson said one Branson fire fighter suffered a minor injury, and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Guests evacuated from adjacent buildings have been allowed to return.
