Joplin Police detectives are following the digital clues as they investigate a Craigslist ad posted this week.

The product advertised: "Three Chinese Girls."

KY3 has blurred the face and censored the names in the ad to protect any victims.

The ad was spotted by a concerned citizen who reported it to Police, who handed the case over to a computer forensics team.

The ad has since been deleted from Craigslist.

"The case is still ongoing. Detectives are doing their part, you know, subpeonas, trying to get information and evaluating that. We're pretty confident the kids are safe, no one's in danger at this point, we're just trying to figure out where it originated from and complete our investigation," said Sgt. Rusty Rives.

Rives says even a prank ad for human trafficking could potentially result in charges for the person who posted it.
